Fish & Chips War Part 2 – Stumble Inn
Hot on the heels from last week’s feast at The Oasis, sweet3mango took a wander down to Sukhumvit Soi 4 and see what Gav the Gaffer and the team from Stumble could serve up.
The rules are simple: we have judged each establishment on
Fish
Chips
Value for money
Presentation
Location
Each category is marked out of 3 (as in the 3 in mango), so the highest score possible is 15, and the score to beat is 13/15 from our first establishment The Oasis.
Let’s get ready to rumble as next up is The Stumble Inn, which is located on Soi 4 and has a great reputation for pub grub.
The Stumble Inn ( Soi 4)
The minute you hit Soi 4 you can’t miss Stumble Inn, Stumble Inn is the biggest bar on the first stretch of Soi Nana and has a great seating area that lets you watch the day to day life on this busy road, there is always something happening.
The fish and chips are priced at 280 THB and are served with chips, peas, and a side of tartar sauce
The fish (cod) is tender and flakey the way fish should be, the batter is thin and crispy and just the right flavour, a fair portion of chips makes this a great option for those that crave for a taste of home.
So down to the scores and here we go.
Fish 3/3 A great piece of Cod that is cooked perfectly, and the batter is crisp and golden.
Chips 2/3 A nice portion of chips similar to The Oasis ( fresh from the freezer).
Presentation 3/3 A nice sized fish that adds to the presentation and makes this dish look a fine sight.
Value for Money 3/3 At 280 THB you can’t go wrong at all.
Location 2/3 A 5-10 minute walk from Nana BTS, and the second bar on your left when you enter Soi 4 and a great place to sit and watch the world ( and the girls) go by.
Final Score 13/15
So here we have it, a close call with The Oasis for the best fish and chips in Bangkok.
And Gav the Gaffer had this to say “Succulent cod tail, deep-fried in beer batter and served with fries & peas for 280b makes Stumble Inn’s Fish n Chips not only the tastiest but also best value in town!”
