Thailand’s largest island is often simply thought of as the jumping off point to visit the country’s scenic islands to the south. But this archipelago is full of culture, history and gorgeous beaches. In 2004, Phuket was devastated by the Indian Ocean tsunami. In the wake of this tragedy, the island rallied together and was miraculously speedy at rebuilding and reopening the island to tourists. Today the island is again thriving and exploring it on motorbike is the ideal way to see all it has to offer.
